Laura and I spent the whole day at our local Red Cross chapter receiving training on life saving techniques. After many hours and several exams and demonstrations, we received our certifications in Infant, Child and Adult CPR as well as Standard First Aid.
My personal view on this type of training is that it should be required teaching to receive a high school diploma. There’s no reason for everyone to not have the training and skills needed to perform immediate life saving techniques.
Think about it. If you were in a serious car accident, wouldn’t you feel better knowing that virtually everyone around you had the knowledge to save your life? Or, more in line with the reason Laura and I took the classes, what your child was injured or choking, wouldn’t you feel better knowing what to do in that situation? I know we do.
